Once you've been there ... you'll want to keep going back!! Vacationing at the fabulous Greenbrier resort originally gave us the opportunity to "experience" Lewisburg...the COOLEST SMALL TOWN in the US. We love the theater, the restaurants, the shops, the galleries, the arts and crafts, the spectacular mountain terrain, the natural landscape, the fresh-crisp air,it's proximity to everything COOL around it, and of course, it's proximity to The Greenbrier Resort. Visitors from around the world will now be able to "experience" Lewisburg when they visit and "experience" The Greenbrier Resort...the only one of its kind in the world! Lewisburg is DEFINITELY on the upswing! Getting there-particularly by plane-is now "a breeze!" If we ever moved from Atlanta...it would be to Lewisburg, West Virginia!

I grew up just outside of Lewisburg in Clintonville, went to elementary school there, had my first pinewood derby race, my first vanilla coke, saw my first saddle and just so many other things in that town. I love the history and I think history is "cool" not just quaint. From General Lewis in the 1700's, the importance of Lewisburg as an intersection/crossroads during the civil war and even knowing my childhood library stood in view and was hit during civil war battle.
I have been living life in Western NC for almost 22 years and I still think often about the "neat & cool things" in my hometown.
That is where I learned what a good cup of Joe was, exposed to more art, a guillotine, first view of hand hewn logs, performances at Carnegie Hall and that delicious crab melt sandwich at the General Lewis Inn. History has been maintained but it is also modern.... a perfect mix.
It is well worth your time to visit.... I think about it frequently.

It is with great sadness & a heavy heart that I report a grave situation here in beautiful Greenbrier County,WV, which is now being referred to as the "Horse Holocaust".
We in West Virgina are dealing with an unimaginable nightmare consisting of hundreds of starving horses, more than 32 dead from starvation.
Our local paper, West Virgina Daily News & Valley Ranger" reports 21 horses have been found dead near Rupert.
According to Greebrier County Sheriff James W. Childers, the full size horses were found at Shawver's Crossing and had died from apparent neglect.
I am appealing to everyone reading this to express your concern & support in bringing those responsible to justice. Please pass this along. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!
