Posted by: Budget Travel, Friday, Dec 11, 2009, 4:29 PM

Almost every traveler has a short list of great places he or she hopes to visit in 2010. And we do too! Later this month, we'll be coming out with a list of the best-value destinations for next year.

But first, you tell us—where do you see yourself heading in 2010?

AND BEFORE YOU GO...
Let us know, and we might interview you for our new Exit Interview series. E-mail justback@budgettravel.com and tell us: (1) where you're going, (2) when you are planning to leave and return, (3) who you are going with, and (4) a few details of your itinerary.

We are headed to Scotland in June for my daughter's graduation. The travel group will include my husband, our oldest son and his wife, their (then) 11 month old son, our daughter and me. She is getting a Master's degree at Stirling University, so Stirling will be our home base. We plan to see Glasgow, Edinburgh and much of the central Scotland area, and will probably focus on sites from our family history (my ancestors are Wallaces). We'd also like to go to the Orkney's, possibly to the Isle of Skye.

Just got back to ice and snow from a cruise to Jamaica and Labadee...so as I chip away at the driveway someone forgot to plow while I was gone, these are the things I have to look forward to!
*A trip with the family to see the Patriots wrap up a play off spot ( ...please???) and stay at Renaissance Patriots’ Place)
*Fort Myers Beach in Feb with my girls to visit the grandparents and bike to the beach and see the birds, gators and our favorite tiny raccoon at Ding Darling Sanctuary
*a June trip to Zambia and Botswana with my husband, my girls, my niece and sister and brother in law. (this one has been 2 years in the planning)
*a summer in Downeast Maine…enjoying great shows at the Stonington Opera House and grooving to Flash in the Pans steel band in Blue Hill (Yes, pans in Downeast Maine, and having just returned from Jamaica, I can say Flash is as good as anything you’d hear in the Carribean!!!)

Ok, I think I can make it through the ice and snow;-)

February 9-March 16 my husband and I are going to Dubai, Bangladesh, Azerbaijan, and Republic of Georgia. Except for Georgia, we have friends in each area.

May 11 to June 9 we're heading to South Africa. We'll do a 10-day safari -- 8 people including my husband and myself, another couple who are local friends, and an Egyptian friend from Cairo, in addition to three women who live in Mexico, and we have yet to meet. Following the safari, we and our friends will do several weeks of independent travel around South Africa and into Zimbabwe.

For Nichole who asked for ideas for her trip to Portugal, we recently did a 5-week road trip zig-zagging back and forth across most of the country. If you have the flexibility, we enjoyed the little-visited Alentejo area the most. Every charming village has a medieval castle and lots of white-washed, red tile roofed buildings. If you get there, do not miss the medieval villages of Monsaraz and Marvao!

Our big trip this year will start with 2 weeks in New Zealand starting towards the end of January. We have a rental car booked and are looking for suggestions as to what we should see and where we should go. We tend to just take each day at a time on this kind of trip, but this may be our only visit to NZ so would love some advice. We will then board the Diamond Princess in Auckland and sail on it for 32 days, first hitting some ports in NZ, then some on the south and west coast of Australia and end the cruise eventually in Thailand. We will be camping in the southwest in April, in Yosemite in June and July and then ????? That is all we have planned so far.

Working Stiff: "Where in the world do so many people get the money to take these lavish trips?"

A very few of the messages imply trips planned as "once in a lifetime" deals after years of saving up. But otherwise I'm with you. What especially rankles is that so many have got the money to travel & boast about same but not the education to write decently ("Me and my wife are"..."Orkney's"..."Whales" etc.)

I will be returning to my orphanage of 142 children in Haiti Jan. 22, Lord willing. Almost every month visitors arrive to spend time with the kids and hold clinics in remote areas. We have a team home there with running water and flush toilets so it is not as nice as home, but comfortable. Most guests spend less than $1,000 for everything for a week including airfare and food. If you have ever had a hankering to visit a third world country or go on a mission trip, you may contact me. (330)854-0708 John

I would recommend Argentina. Last year I went there and had the best of times.
I enjoyed Tango so much, that when I went back to my country, I started tango lessons. I had stayed in an apartment in buenos aires which was near the downtown and La Boca.
I want to go back!

Travel? Boy that must be nice. In this economy, it is difficult just to pay the bills and keep a roof over one's head. Seems pretty frivilous.

I am flying from Chicago to Fort Lauderdale in late March to spend 2 nights with my mom (who lives down there) and then we are driving to the port of Miami to take a 4-night Carnival cruise to Key West & Cozumel).

That is my only planned "flights" for 2010 but I do plan to try and do a few long weekend road trips in the summer around the Chicago area - such as Galena, southwest Michigan, or Wisconsin.

Posted By Michelle on December 15, 2009, 12:23 PM

China with my mom in February. Some long weekends to California. No plans beyond that.

For those criticizing the rest of us for traveling, why are you on a travel website? Some of us save on the little things to be able to afford to travel. It's the one thing I cannot give up.

Frivolous? Complaining about spelling and levels of education? Get over yourselves.

Probably a road trip across Canada, from Vancouver to Banff & back; this in 2010. In 2011, my Aussie friend & I are going on a 30 year anniversary trip to Iceland. We met 30 years ago in a youth hostel in Germany & have remained best friends ever since. We want to see Iceland before it really gets on the tourist track, so we'll do as much of a road trip around there as we can fit into 2 weeks.

Economy must be improving or a lot of you people are simply habitual liars. I am staying home and working so I can get my house paid off early (and soon). That way when everyone else returns from all these outrageous trips and they have to file bankruptcy I'll be doing okay and then I can go on a vacation if I choose. Besides, I have been to a lot of those places (and even lived in some of them) and I like my own backyard more than most of those places.

All booked to spend 11 days on the Greek island of Corfu in May. We have never stayed in one place for more than 5 days but fell in love with this island on a cruise earlier this year and decided to enjoy a leisure filled visit to this heavenly location. We are staying in a small hotel in the village of Agios Stefanos and our daughter and son-in-law will be coming over for the last five days for their first visit to the wonderful country of Greece. Can hardly wait for May!!

Jan 9-17 my husband and I will go to Puerto Vallarta and stay at the palace resorts hotel there (all inclusive). Our dear friends from New Jersey will meet us there and we will sip many a cerveza and umbrella drinks while sunning, snorkeling and swimming. The guys served in VietNam together so there will be many stories, lots of laughter and a few tears. A great relaxing time after the bustle of the holidays. We are also celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary.
March 20-28 we will cruise the Caribbean on Celebrity Soltice, our sixth cruise. Another couple will join us. My husband, Tom, and Hugh used to be business partners. He and his fiancee are celebrating her birthday. Our stops will include San Juan, PR where we will see the rain forest, St Kitts where we will take a catamaran to Pinney's Beach for the day, and St Maarten for sailing and snorkeling. Massages, pampering, and umbrella drinks again await us on "at sea" days.
May 14 - 29 we will cruise again on Celebrity in the eastern Mediterranean. Leaving out of Rome we will stop in Sicily, Athens, Mykonos, Rhodes, Santorini, Ephesus Turkey, and Naples. Excursions to be determined. We are travelling with 5 couples this time; all the guys served in VietNam in the same unit in '68-'69. After the cruise some of us will continue by land to Positano, Italy for 4 days, enjoying the Amalfi coast.
Sept 17-Oct 2 Tom and I will go solo and do a Harvest Tour of the Wine Regions of Italy with the Loretta Paganini School of Cooking. for a culinary tour in the Genova area. We will stay in Camogli on the Italian Riviera in the Liguria region and travel out from there each day to see Cinque Terre, Portofino, and coastal Tuscany. We move to Lucca and see Rapolano, Siena, Acqui Terme, Strevi. Wine tastings, market tours, cooking classes with famous chefs, dining at the best restaurants and finally a White Truffle hunt with a licensed "truffolaio" followed by a lunch (including a tasting of the truffles) and wine. After the 10 day tour, Tom and I plan to visit Florence or maybe rent a car and explore on our own. I have been taking Italian lessons so that I will be able to enjoy the full flavor of this beautiful country.

I, too, find it ironic that there are so many negative comments about traveling on a travel site! I would hope that most people who are taking "big" trips have saved for them for a period of time, and are not going into credit card debt to go. That said, travel is an essential part of my family's budget; I put aside money every month in a CapitolOne interest bearing money market account.

We're ending 2009 with a trip to New York to visit family for the holidays, and will also explore NYC for a few days. In April, we'll drive to Baja California to just hang out in the sun near the quiet town of Mulege. I'm trying to put together a cruise to Antarctica for November to celebrate a milestone birthday; if that doesn't work, we may go to the Galapagos instead.

(BTW, we went to South Africa for a month this year -- I used air miles, so we only paid a small amount for tax; we did 2 safaris, but both had "pay for 2 nights get the third free" offers; we stayed in B&Bs (average $50 USD/night for a family of 3) and an apartment for the week in Cape Town (2 bed, 2 bath with a washer/dryer and view of the harbour and Table Mountain for approx $600, thanks to a favorable exchange rate at the time of booking); and drank great wine that was less than a coke in the US.)

I make annual trip to Italia to re-kit my roots, home of paretns, as Mom born near there
plus a trib, maybe Thailand (again, been 5 years), for my Asia fix

I have been saving money for the past five years and had no clear idea of what I was saving for. I have decided that since I am 24, not married, have no children and have yet to buy a house it is the perfect time for the once in a life time opportunity to backpack around europe. It will start march 2010. I plan on doing the budget route... staying in b&bs etc. Buying a Eurail pass and visiting as many places my funds will allow.. then back home to the real world, the stress, the commitments. Wish me luck!I open to suggestions of things i must do while I am away.

I'm really excited about this trip.
I'm still unsure where we'll be going in the Fall, maybe Costa Rica or Mexico and Vermont for sure which I've been wanting to do for years.

I read Arianne Cohen's article about Istanbul in the most recent issue of Budget Travel and it inspired me to use my social network to find my own local tour guides. Hopefully it will pan out and save me some money in the process! What a timely and helpful article!

This is in response to Moe's question about Egypt.

I went to Egypt in 2004 for 10 days. I registered with the Egyptian Government. The travel and tourism department. You fill a form on the site, tell them what you are looking for. They will send out your information to pre-screened tour groups that have met government standards and the tour groups will email you different tour options.

The only problem I had was when I arrived in Egypt the owner of the tour company tried to say that they had the booking but the deposit had not been. (I think he thought he could pull something over on two woman travellers--my sister let me deal with it.) I pulled out the receipts from the bank showing that the money had been wired to them. He kind of backed off after that.

MOE on a side note...make sure you carry toilet paper as there is often none in the washrooms but the attendents will give you some and then put out his /her hand and say "Backshe" a tip. You will here that everywhere you go. Many are very aggressive when asking if you are American. I am Canadian and once I said that the pnly thing they know about Canada is "Canada dry gingerale".

FROM MOE: In April me and my wife are planning an extended trip to Egypt. A short side trip to the valley of the kings in luxor is in the works. Still in the planning phases of a scuba diving destination on the red sea (any previous travelers with experiences there with any advice ?? please help
thanks )

We have an exciting 7 week trip planned for Turkey + beginning at the end of March. 20% of the time we'll be on an organized tour (our first ever) and the rest of it is doing what we do best - travelling where and when the spirit (and the av ailability of rare birds to see)takes us. The plus is a 1 week stay on the isle of Lesvos.

Then in September we are tentatively planning to visit San Miguel de Allende on a road trip from Arizona where we live.

And that's all we have planned so far.

Hey Friends,

Last week as it was a big weekend i.e 14 - 15 - 16 Aug 2009, so we decided to head to this beautiful resort in Hyderabad called Songs of Earth... we were two couples and we wanted to relax and have some fun...

This resort is located at Shankerpally nearby gandipet on the way to ocean park.... The resort is beautifully designed and developed by some adventure enthusiasts.... the rooms are quite different and have a unique design... we were lucky we got deluxe rooms.... the rooms are quite neat, tidy & well maintained.... and they also have sliding mirror doors which is not quite oftenly seen in other resorts....

Coming to food... if you book a room then you get complim

View next photo entary breakfast .... so did we get our morning breakfast which was quite decent..... Lunch & Dinner are ala carte and are not included in the room package.....

This resort is a perfect place for people who love adventure..... and in the room booking price these adventure activities are free... we did rock climbing, burma bridge, archery, tug of war... and they also have beautiful mini golf course which is beautifully designed.....

we played golf, cricket and did swimming too.... swimming pool is not that big but have to adjust they told us that they are coming up with a bigger swimming pool too.... so it was decent enough for us.....this place is also good for day outing with a group.... i mean if you are a group of 20 or 30 people its a perfect outing experience..... you can come in the day and leave in the evening completely satisfied......

the resort is quite huge..... and they have BMX cycles... those were really fun.... we did drove around the resort on these cycles which were really a welcome change after driving our bikes for a long period.....

we had a great time at this resort.... i would suggest everyone to visit this place....
u can also check their site for more info... www.songsofearth.org and if you book in advance it will be useful for you....

In 2010 i will visit again this resort

Going back to the west coast of Puerto Rico for ten days on New Year's day. I've never spent more than $1300 total (airfare, accommodations, car rental, all spending money including meals, airline fees for checking surfboard bags, departure taxes, and whatever else one pays for) on any trip I've been on, but I've had fantastic experiences everywhere I've been. I pay all my bills, have money saved, and have a separate savings account for travel (and I'm definitely not a rich person). I just make travel a priority in my life, but never spend more than I can afford on a trip. That's meant sleeping in a van on a couple of California surf trips...but I think that made the experience even richer :).

I will most likely travel alone although my brother may join me for part of it.
In Ireland I am going on a tour. Did a tour for the first time in my life earlier this year with a company called Vagabond. LOVED THEM! In 2010 I am planning a 5 day "adventure tour" (with Vagabond again)of northern Ireland. After that, I will travel independently. I plan to go to one or two mainland countries and get my fill of culture, museums, history, art, etc and then finish with a few days relaxing on an island, doing nothing more than chilling out on a beach!

God willing, Philly in January, March/April Chile. I think the economy downward fall has hit many people. However, to judge what others do with their hard-earned money is not positive. I agree, one can wonder how people are able to afford these every month trips. Yet, I am only a city worker and believe me not rich by any means. I can tell you that people will save for what they want. I have a vacation account and I save 200 dollars a month for any vacation I want to take. The importance of what travel gives me is too valuable to give up.

We have always wanted to travel to Tiptonville, TN and Reelfoot lake to see the eagles nesting in the winter. Our travel dates are not firm yet but the prime time window is January through early March. We will spend a couple of days at an inn (preferably a B&B) and just take in the wonder of Eagle watching!

In May we'll be at Folly Beach, SC outside of Charleston for a week. We've rented a house that sleeps 18 for a family reunion. There will be trips into Charleston and the surrounding area on top of beach time.

In October we're taking a Rhine River cruise from Basel, Switzerland to Amsterdam with extra days at the end in Amsterdam. This is the third year in a row we've gone to Europe, and we love it. We always try to do something off of the beaten tourist path in additon to the tried and true tourist spots. Last year we attended a soccer (football) game in London where we found the fans as interesting as the match.

I'm going to England! I didn't make it over this year for my annual trip to visit friends I met on exchange in 1994 so will be extra happy to be there in 2010. From there I'll head to Provence to visit a friend whose one-year stay has become indefinite. Wish I could go more places but that will eat up all my vacation for the year.

I will be spending Feb-mid April at my newly rehabbed ruin now cottage in the sleepy fishing village of Tarpum Bay, Eleuthera Bahamas.
My friend and I spotted the windowless, doorless, roofless walls perched on a hill overlooking the Caribbean. We bought it, drew the design on squared paper, submitted it to the local building board, and hired a local builder. Kervin is the great grandson of the original owner. And, our house was the first cement building on Eleuthera.
It was finished in nine months, It is "the talk of the town", and watched over by our native neighbors when we are off island. We did this project via cell phone and two visits during construction. The village and we are a great mix. We love it, and we love our Bahamian friends.
Can't wait to leave the cold of northern Michigan for the pristine beaches and warmth of Eleuthera!

WHOO HOO I going to PERU!! With my sister and a friend we have known for 48 years. That's in April. In Sept we will be on Cape Cod for a family reunion. We are very fortunate to be able to plan these trips. Yes the economy is bad, but travel is the reason that I work. I don't get paid enough to go everywhere I would like to, or go as often as I would like to,but life is too short to ignore your passions...my passion is travel. I afford it by planning and economizing every way that I can. I don't stay at delux acomodations or travel first class...I'd travel last class if there were such a thing! To me the glory is the destination, not where I sleep/shower or how I get there.
Happy safe enjoyable travels to all..and anyone going to Peru thru Gate One in April...SEE YA!!

I will be doing two package tours of Turkey starting in May 2010. After researching the cost of independent travel I decided I would come out way a head with doing two package tours back-to-back versus renting cars, riding public buses, and airplanes. But, if I had deeper pockets I would have been happier to go the independent route. I lose flexibility on a package tour. And I would like to spend much more time or a more leisurely pace while seeing the country. Small villages are the independent travelers most satisfying visits. A package tour has to sell itself by showing as much as possible in little time as possible. Take your choice...and pay up I guess.

I am planning on taking a cruise this year with my boyfriend, mother, sis/husband, and cousins...I've always been opposed to the idea of a cruise...assuming they were only for "tacky tourists"...but after a trip to the BVI earlier this month, I have a new appreciation for the traveling cities!! In some of the most deserted islands of the BVI we had such a hard time finding food and water, I thought a more inclusive vacation might be fun to try!! On a cruise you know where your next meal will be coming from!! Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the BVI!!! Just thinking I'll take it easy on the next vacation;) Now we just have to figure out which cruise line to book!!

Jan. 2010 will find us in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, staying at the stunning Cabo Azule Resort & Spa. We are not normally resort fans but this is the exception to the rule. This will be our third visit and we seem to love it more each time. It's a combination of a great 1,500 sq ft 2 bedroom villa; a fabulous spa, three infinity pools (that lead to the ocean). Good restaurants. And to top it all off, smashing service. Who could ask for more?

May & June 2010 will find us returning to glorious Europe. After living and working in Europe for almost ten years we are very comfortable there. We rent homes, rather than stay in hotels. Lease a car rather than rent. And eat in the delicious places frequented by the locals.

These methods allow us to meet delightful local people, stay in Europe much longer than the average traveler, save money, eat great food, and have a wonderful time.

This is a brief outline of our 2010 trip.

Provence - Here we have a 2 bedroom house in the town of Uzes. From here we will enjoy Avignon, Nimes, Arles, Orange, Gordes, and of course, the markets of Provence.

Tuscany - We are renting a 2 Bedroom Villa in Lucca and will tour the wonders of: Florence, Pisa, Siena, and Cinque Terre. Could even spend a few days in Venice.

Almalfi Coast - We are renting a 2 bedroom home in Sorrento and will take a trip through time in Pompeii, Capri, Positano, Amalfi, Herculaneum, and Sorrento.

Rome - We have a stunning 2 bedrm town house 300m from the Vatican. Our week will be spent touring the Vatican museums, Tapestry Gallery, Sistine Chapel and the Gallery of Maps. Then we will tour the Roman Forum, Coliseum, Catacombs, Castel Sant'Angelo, and The Pantheon. And, of course, after wonderful dinners we will see the many magnificent fountains in Rome.

Paris - Here we have a beautiful 2,000 sq ft. Paris flat in the 6th. While here we will revisit our favorite and new museums. Enjoy walking and shopping on the Champs Elysees. But more than that we will just immerse ourselves in the life of Paris. Enjoying the street markets, street performers, good food and delightful wine bars. We may even return to Versailles to soak in more stunning architecture, history and art.

To maximize the value of our money, we prepaid our car lease and lodging months ago.

We are taking our GPS with us. Have all our maps as backup, purchased our travelers insurance policy and have our itinerary made. All we need now is for the May to arrive.

Im told:
1. 25 more men trained for these acts ready to act.
2. 2-4 hour arrival at airport before plane leaves.
3. stay seated for 1 hour before landing.,
etc.
4. training base is Yemen
Thanks to Nigeria & Al Queada.

To enter Mexico, Canada Id use:
Cruise Line
RV

Car
Pvt Plane
Exec Jet

For Overseas:

OR fly overseas from Mexico or Canada to Asia or Europe & bypass TSA lines for flights.
(maybe).

Or pre ship stuff to home from EU or Asia vs carry on luggage.

FYI.

Try the campgrounds in the National Park on St. John USVI - they have a variety of accommodations, steps to the most beautiful beach, locals very friendly and if you go off season, very reasonable
( we go the first week of May, 79 steps to the beach at $88.00 a night for a cabin that sleeps four)

*****FYI*****for the complainers******* None of this would be possible if my husband and I didn't save 10% of our income, (***and yes we both work full time with 2 kids and have the same bills like most people***)we've always done it and now it's easy to save for the big trips like Hawaii and Africa!!! you just have to decide what's important...i'd rather skip on the expensive purses and clothes or what ever else people spend their extra money on...Put that money back for travel and you'd be shocked at how much you'd save in just one year....

We are going to Mexico this month to see Aztec and Mayan ruins. In February to San Francisco.
In April to Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa on a Safari. In September to my 50th High School Reunion in Illinois. While we are there we will go to Indiana and Ohio to visit the capital buildings (we are trying to see all the state capitals) and to Cayahoga National Park in Ohio. world to see, for 2 weeks. My daughter has chosen France & Italy, with side trips to Belgium and Switzerland. I look forward to showing her the different cultures and customs and we are enjoying
planning the trip, together. Since I didn't become a 'mom' till my 50's, I was able to travel a good part of the world on my own. Now I will see the

We love to travel. When times get tough - we get creative. We have had hard times before - but we still managed to do something fun. We may outfit our SUV and go back to camping - but we don't plan to stay home and mope because cannot fly to Europe like many of the other posters on this blog. Everyone's circumstances are different. Not everyone has been hurt by the economic downturn. Many still have very good jobs and incomes - more than we could ever dream of. Some folks are just more frugal and some spend their hard earned cash on bad habits. But, we can usually find the money to do what we truly WANT to do. I don't see any problem with lowering our expectations and enjoying the sights nearer to home. Just do something different - that's what makes it a vacation. Enjoy yourself. All work and no play - is NO FUN!! And just because the economy is down does not mean everyone is hurting - reading these blog entries proves that!!

Hey Stiff, I agree with Natilie too... You don't have to be rich or even have great jobs to take little travel trips...It takes my husband & I a year or more to save for a trip we plan yearly. (We work hard all year & feel we deserve to treat ourselves to a fun, getaway!) We save 20.00 a week, sometimes more if we have it & put our income tax return money toward our vacation & we can have an idea on where we can go depending on how much we'll have saved. We still have lots of bills (which will probably always be there the rest of our lives...so..) gots to go have fun too.. see the world a little at a time. Trips we won't forget, great memories we share. I love reading other peoples ideas on places to visit & what was the highlights of the trips to see if that would interest us. Last year I planned a trip to Florida for my husbanmd & I, He said that was the best trip he'd ever taken in his life soo far, that I planned for under $3,000. It was a road trip. Drove to a cabin in Pigeon Forge,Tn. out in the booneys-that was soo cool for our wedding Anniversary. Went horseback riding-Was my first time & went on super riding trail. Had gotten tickets to a Sweet Fannie Adams Theater (cost little for the tickets & put on a show u won't forget). Got tickets to Dixie Stameed (something u definitely want to go do & see, eat & stomp your feet while you watch the show & you'll see real buffalo come out!!) These were in Gatlinburg. then we passed through Georgia (had some plantations I would of like to stop & see but we didn't this trip)& went on to Titusville, Fl. (just stopped & stayed at a hotel there)Next morning went to the Kennedy Space Center & then I had us reserved at a ocean-view hotel room-at first was questioning my pick of hotel there-lots of locks on the door-but it was ok. The view was great & the Beach out there was nice with volleyball set-up, & outdoor pool & Bar! The next morning checked out & I had us reserved to get on the Discovery Cruise Boat to the Bahamas The boat provides beakfast, lunch, & supper(on our way back)& if not staying on the island overnight. & a Stay all-inclusive at the Sheridan Hotel there. It was nice & we walked around the flee market area & casino.food & drinks free with the all inclusive (for less than $100. for both of us, sooo good deal)Walked around the pools & beach there. Musicians playing music on the streets. Bought a Beautiful Bahamas towel! & skirt outfit. The next morning we checked out but they will hold luggage & We went scuba Diving-Awesome Fish to see! On the cruise boat there is 2-3 dance rooms. I love the deck bar & they have games they play up there that are free (hula hoop, limbo) & some bingo ticket games $1 ea. Little casino area. This whole cruise trip for the Discovery Cruise Boat & the All-inclusive hotel thing was all for $250. total for both of us!!! Then we got back to Fort Myers, Fl. & stayed overnight & headed on our way back to Ohio. It was a super FUN Trip! My husband & I & other family couples went to Las Vegas together & that was a fun trip too. That cost us just as much as the other trip to Florida did. & it is a Super Cool place to go to! This year we are planning to go to Hollywood, California. We have it figured to cost about $4-4,500 for everything. We'll be flying there & renting a car. Any exciting or highlight things around this area that you've seen & done would be appreciated! I want to go on the Mobster tour (i've seen people comment on how that was the best part of their trip). I want to drive to Beverly Hills of course. And see the boardwalk of Fame. Movie Studio. Wanna drive to Malibu (Charlie Sheen area). Still searching web for the highlights in the area!! Was thinking of staying at the Sofitel in West Hollywood...Not going till September, little more time to save for the trip.

Next month, our family will realize our dream as we travel to Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. We have homeschooled for the past 11 years, and because this will be our last year, we are celebrating our time together. Just like CMM, we got creative to make this work, but we, too, believe that we need to play hard to balance our hard work. What could be better than a trip we'll all enjoy and talk about for years to come?

We went Paris already, was a very dirty city so we will probably not go there again. This winter we will be going to Spokane, Washington and Colorado Springs. Spokane should set their motto to: "A City in the middle of nowhere with everything around it". Its the largest city in Eastern Washington with pretty much everything you would look for in a vacation nearby (within 1hr) wither it be theme parks, resorts, shopping, visiting historical places, hunting, fishing, etc. Colorado Springs is another place with some other stuff to see such as caves national parks, ski resorts etc, They also have Pike's Peak named after a guy who died trying to climb it. It should be interesting as our drives will be through the rockies in winter time.

When I was a kid I traveled to South America (specifically to Santiago de Chile)and it was so fun... This September (2 decades after that trip), I´m going back to South America, but this time to Buenos Aires (Argentina). I´m looking forward to tango and eat argentinean meat, that I read it is awesome. I´ve rented an apartment in Buenos Aires, so I expect that everything goes ok.
Wish me luck!
Interesting comments!
