We asked, and you came through with gorgeous photos of Ireland's emerald countryside, craggy coastlines, majestic castles, cities like Dublin and Cork—and even marching bagpipers in Waterford's St. Patrick's Day Parade.
See the photos here. And Happy St. Patty's!

Thank you for posting the photos from Ireland. We are going in July and hope to take some great pictures as well. The picture from Doolin was very good. We hope to go to the Aran Islands if the weather permits and the picture from there was very good also.

I saw the Ireland Photos request, but while I looked for a WAY to submit photos, I did not find one. I have uploaded some to my personal photo area, as that was the only route that I could find.
If you can, either just grab those or let me know how to submit them to this series.
My wife and I were in Ireland in 2007 for 2 delightful weeks, and shot quite a bit, my images were with a DSLR and overall we got some very nice images.

Hi Don,
Anyone can upload their photos via My Budget Travel (http://mybt.budgettravel.com).
We should have made that clear.
Lucky you for having gotten to visit Ireland so recently!
Thanks for participating!

Sorry I missed the opportunity to post photos. I spent a wonderful month backpacking in Ireland in 2007 and have some wonderful pictures of walking the Kerry Way for 6 days and 135 miles.

I just learned that a friend and I are going to Dublin in August. I would love any advice especially regarding cheap airfare. What to do, where to go, what to see? Thanks.

Hi! We were on a major tour provider's 2 week tour around Ireland in 2007 - absolutely great!! This link shows the highlights. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lawayne/sets/
Adding a couple days before and after a tour gives you time to explore on your own!
This year we will be in Scotland on a week tour and 2 weeks on our own, mainly in the London/Bath areas.
So many wonderful places in the world to visit, but we keep going back to the British Isles!
Cheers, Dave

Mandy,
Not sure where you are flying out of to Dublin. Sign up for fare alerts with various sites as you know your destination.
You don't mention how much time you will be in Ireland, if you will have a car or not and what your interests are. I just returned spending two weeks in Ireland.
For me, I loved some of the smaller cities - Kilkenny, Cashel and Portrush in the North. The Giant's Causeway on the Antrim Coast was spectacular. I did a day trip to Derry as well because the city walls and the history there make it worth it.
Sadly the National Museum was closed on Monday so I missed seeing it, but the National Gallery was open.
Have fun in Ireland. It is a country that is way under rated, with friendly, down the earth people that really do love to talk!

My husband and I would love to go to both Scotland and Ireland, but are unsure as to when the best time of year to go. We know it rains quite a bit there, but can anyone give us an idea as to what they feel is a good time?
Thanks!

Please note: When wishing someone Happy St. Patrick's day, the male of Patty is Paddy--with two d's -- from the Gaelic Padraic. It's pronounced Paddy (as in paddy wagon), too. Patty is for Patricia (or burgers).
Thanks!

I would suggest you go in August so you can take in the Tattoo in Edinburgh, Scotland (get tickets for the final night-the fireworks are spectacular!). If you make it near the end of the month you can be sure of nice weather and somewhat less tourists....:)
We lived in Ireland for 6 months (July-January) while my husband attended Ballymaloe Cookery School, Co. Cork and went to Scotland as well.

I've only been able to go to Eire once and loved every minute of it (my dad's relatives live in the Ring of Kerry area). We went on a fly and drive tour & I took 18 rolls of film! The things I love most about Ireland (and Wales so I don't upset my mother's spirit) were the people and the scenery. It seems like there's a photo opportunity every time you blink! Am hoping to take my husband sometime soon. Thanks for the photos....they brought back great memories.

You definitely chose the right photo for the October 2009 Ireland cover. (If one has no idea that a great pint of Guiness is available in Ireland they should stay home.) The incredibly beautiful, rugged and majestic scene at the Cliffs of Moher is a perfect presentation of what awaits you when you travel to this charmed isle. To be able to enjoy the best pint or ale while visiting here is indeed a bonus.

Looking forward to a trip to Ireland not next year but the next--suggestions on cheapflights, must see/do/live for first timeers? We love the samll and festival/shops/pubs/theater/"living with the people" area with the option to "get to" a major city.Best time of the year and any other advice would be helpful. It will be my 60th birthday when we go! :) Many thanks, Martha Mathis

We visited Ireland some years ago and loved it. We went to Dublin and south for two weeks just driving around staying in B&Bs and visiting pubs. We did not go north of Dublin. I have a collage in my guest room with over 26 photos of pubs we actually visited from both Ireland and Scotland. The Irish people are friendly and we had the most wonderful experiences there. One night in a pub which had a band playing we were seated with some Irish families listening to the music. There were families with children of all ages in the pub. Some students came in the pub and took us onto the dance floor for dancing. At the end of the evening when the pub was closing, the band played the Irish national anthem with everyone standing and singing. It was quite moving. Galway and Dingle in Ireland were among our favorite areas but we loved everywhere we traveled.
