You've finally graduated -- now it's time to celebrate. There's a new way to plan (and afford) that post-graduation backpacking trip to Europe.

Contiki, a vacation-planning service specializing in travel for 18- to 35-year-olds, has a gift registry. You can post your dream trip, and your friends and family can log on to fund parts of it—including airfare and hotel(s).

After registering for free, you get a personal website with a blog and photo gallery, so your gift-givers can see what you're doing with their money. Select from 100-plus packages, and then tack on as many extras as you choose to personalize your trip. With locations as far away as Australia and as close to home as Canada (not to mention U.S. destinations), you might cure your wanderlust just enough to start looking for a 9-to-5. Not to say we’re betting on it.

Thanks for the great suggestion. May we please suggest, if the traveling grad is a law school, pre-law, or paralegal school grad, that he or she pop into their music player LawTunes' (www.lawtunes.com) "The LawTunes Jury Boxed Set" -- four CDs of humorous original law-related rock-and-roll songs composed and produced by a practicing attorney?

DJs for JDs... What will they think up next?

Why is there so much need for everyone to spend big $ for others - someone graduates and family and friends are contacted to PAY for the grads vacation? It's time to get out there and work - then have a dream vacation when you can pay for it. It is becoming too much that no matter what happens the hands go out looking for free bees! I'm sure most grads owe family and possibly friends, graditude for helping them get though university!

Also, check with volunteer/church groups that for little money in most cases, can get you to Europe/Israel,on group discounted rates, etc. and you have the experience of working to help others AND travel. You have a close relationship with locals and experiences you will never forget. In many cases you can extend your trip longer than the volunteer time and travel with others from differenct countries who also may have been part of the same program!
One cannot fully appreciate our country until one has something to compare..
