About 44 percent of families take at least one trip a year with their grandparents, according to a new survey.
Here's where that statistic comes from: People who visited the hotel-review site TripAdvisor were invited to fill out a survey. One of the questions was:
How many trips in a 12 month period that you typically take that involve not only the kids but also their grandparents?
Among U.S. parents with kids living in their household, 44 percent said that they take at least one trip a year with grandma and grandpa. TripAdvisor says the results are statistically representative of the U.S.

As a multi-generational household, and as a middle class family, we often take trips together. We can get a suite, share it, and have a great experience for all in our family. Age ranges now from 3 months to 57. Do we all need to have a little patience, you bet! This is a great way to teach children how families can work together!

I am a grandma who travels with my children and grandchildren. From my point of view, it works out great. I have more quality time with my grandchildren, and am a willing babysitter so my kids have "alone" time to take a walk, ride bikes, see an "adult" movie or whatever. It is also an extra adult to stay in the room while the little ones nap and the parents do special activities with the older kids. It is also an extra hand for cooking and clean-up.
We especially enjoy renting a cabin in Sunriver (near Bend in central Oregon). We swim, ride bikes everywhere, canoe on the Deschutes River, ride horses, and have at least one breakfast of gigantic (and delicious) pastries at Hot Lava in the village mall (does the bike ride to and from justify the calories?).

There are certainly a couple more details to take into consideration, but thank you for sharing this information.
